Many companies need a Sugar import of data from a variety of sources, including GoldMine and other legacy contact managers.
Importing data is not always a simple process, as GoldMine is generally a contact-centric database — while Sugar allows companies to manage Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, Cases and more. Because of this, a Sugar import often involves taking contact data and migrating it into both Accounts and Contacts in Sugar.

Other Sugar Import Considerations
A major factor to consider when doing a Sugar import, is the proper migration of GoldMine History records. There are often important conversations that have been logged in the past that should be migrated into Sugar for easy reference. The original date stamp should be preserved.
Next, it’s often recommended that certain GoldMine data be normalized when it is migrated to Sugar. What do we mean by “normalized”? One example would be if a series of fields is repeated in GoldMine order to maintain multiple sets of data. This data should be put into a proper, relational structure for easier maintenance and reporting.
Another would be if a lookup list has gotten very large — it may make more sense to turn that list into a linked relationship to a custom database table.
